SSL ADVICE

Short for Secure Socket Layer, SSL is a protocol developed by for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL and it has been approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as a standard. Many web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers.

If you are having any problems (and this is true with any site that doesn't initially come up), first try hitting your Refresh button. This really works most of the time. Next, you must have your browser set up to accept cookies as well as operate within an SSL environment.

For Microsoft Internet Explorer users: Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and make sure the boxes for SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are both checked (and TLS 1.0 for versions 5.x and earlier).

For Netscape users: Click the Tasks menu, then Privacy and Security, then click Security Manager. Click on the Advanced tab, then Options on the left-hand side. Make sure all three boxes are checked.

For AOL users: Go to Control Panel , click on Internet Options, then click on the Advanced Tab. Then in the Security section make sure the boxes for PCT 1.0, SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 are all checked.
