Lisa & Will at Mt. Rushmore
Lisa & Will couldn't seem to get the camera to prop up just right, so they flagged down an unsuspecting tourist, Ruth from Santa Rosa, California. She was ready to take the picture when Lisa started acting shy. "C'mon, Honey," she said to Lisa, "they just look like a bikini!" Thanks, Ruth!
South Dakota's Black Hills provide the back-drop for Mount Rushmore, the world's greatest mountain carving. This epic sculpture links 60-foot-high faces of four exalted American presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Five hundred feet up, looking out over a setting of pine, spruce, birch and aspen in the clear western air, sculptor Gutzon Borglum began drilling into the 6200-foot mountain in 1927. Creation of this shrine to democracy took 14 years and cost $1 million.
