Rita at Doctors Cave Beach Hotel
This hotel takes its name from one of Jamaica’s most famous beaches, Doctors Cave Bathing Club. The beach took its name from Dr. Alexander McCatty, who owned it and turned it into a bathing club in 1906. While no longer accessible, a small cave located on the property also contributed to the name. The name seems even more appropriate since British osteopath Sir Herbert Baker claimed in the 1920's that the waters here could cure a variety of ailments. In fact, the waters around Doctors Cave Beach contain a great deal of spring water as numerous underwater springs meet the sea here. Hmmm -- sounds like a vacation here is just what the doctor ordered!
