Matt (and friend Lindsay) at the Boardwalk
It was famed local promoter Fred Swanton who in the early 1900's set out to build a Coney Island of the West Coast on the beach in Santa Cruz. After his first try ended in fire in 1906, Swanton persevered and in 1907 opened one of the most unique attractions of its time. Nearly a century later, the Boardwalk remains a unique attraction and the last of its kind on the west coast. It is a dedication and preservation to history that has helped this California Historic Landmark thrive.
